Welcome to 314159.euWhy did I decide on 314159?Well, first of all, it would make more sense to have the domain be 14159.eu and create a subdomain of 3, but only people that are both computer geeks and math geeks would ever find it; so I decided to omit the period for the domain name. Why only five decimal place? A good question. My first thought was 31415926, which is the number that I use all the time, but later analysis revealed that the next number is 5, so I needed to go with either 31415927, which didn't make a hell of a lot of sense to me, or go with 314159265358973 which is the first number that rounds down with a sense of finality. I decided to go with what most people MIGHT know. Additionally, using 3.14159 will allow you to calculate the orbit of the earth around the sun with an accuracy of about a millimeter. That's close enough for most things we need to deal with. If you need more accuracy, I highly recommend 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375105820974944592.com. Lastly, the site just mentioned is really cool, but you need Google to find it.
